The East-West Management Institute, Inc. (EWMI), a US not-for-profit dedicated to promoting justice, strengthening civil society, and fostering economic development around the world, seeks a candidate for Deputy Chief of Party for an anticipated 4 year $14 million USAID/Asia funded program. The purpose of the program is to provide services to improve meaningful engagement among targeted stakeholders to reduce drivers of latent and violent conflict in Thailand.
EWMI is seeking a DCoP who will oversee activity implementation and logistics for all objectives of the program, reporting to the Chief of Party (CoP). The primary responsibilities of the DCoP will include but not be limited to:
- Oversight of day-to-day management systems for sub-awards
- Management of day-to-day office operations, including ensuring that USAID is notified of all planned travel and that requests for country clearances are processed in a timely manner
- Ensuring that activity operations comply with applicable laws
- Acting as CoP when the CoP is absent
Qualifications:
- Minimum 6 years of relevant professional experience in a senior management position in a program of similar magnitude, preferably in the area of governance and conflict mitigation in Thailand or a country with a similar context.
- Ability to establish strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders including government representatives, non-profit associations, donors, media, academic and research institutes, and other legal associations
- Experience working with civil society and governments
- Expert knowledge and understanding of issues related to governance in Thailand and the technical aspects of governance project design and implementation
- Experience working international donor-supported programs, preferably managing complex activities involving coordination with multiple program partner institutions
- Demonstrated knowledge in social inclusion and gender issues, and demonstrated experience and proficiency in managing programs that mainstream gender
- Proven success and exceptional leadership in the design, management, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of similar donor-supported programs
- Demonstrated drafting and report writing skills
- Fluency in English, both verbally and in writing
- Knowledge of Thai and/or other languages spoken in Thailand would be an asset
