The USAID Green Invest Asia project – implemented by Pact Inc. and its partners – aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by catalyzing private sector finance to upscale and drive investment in the agriculture, forestry, and other land use (AFOLU) sector toward low-emission yet profitable business models. To achieve this, the project is:

• Identifying a pipeline of investments in land use and land management;
• Encouraging investments by banks, financial institutions, and funds into sustainable, low-emission land use management business; and
• Building a community of practice in sustainable landscape finance to tackle systemic issues that block the development and financing of low-emissions land use management.

The USAID Green Invest Asia project is seeking qualified individuals for a mid-level Sustainable Business Analyst position to join the team in the Bangkok, Thailand office.

SUMMARY

The ideal candidate has a passion for, and knowledge of, environmental sustainability, excellent analytical and communication (both oral and written) skills and be adept at managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously. S/he will be responsible for supporting the development of a pipeline of investments in land use and sustainable land management in the AFOLU sector in the Southeast Asia region. S/he will perform a variety of qualitative and quantitative analyses and summarize these into accessible documents. The Analyst reports to the Senior AFOLU advisor.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will perform the following tasks:

• Maintenance and optimization of business pipeline tracker/database.
• Research on new businesses, commodities and standards
• Collation of preparatory documents of client companies related to organizational and environmental capacities.
• Collection, maintenance and analysis of client sustainability data and metrics.
• Compilation of company profiles for internal and external dissemination
• Potential travel as needed on site visits to carry out due diligence of clients
• Contribute to the development of presentations and tools.
• Support in development and maintenance of a set of client contacts
• Support Senior AFOLU Advisor as needed with other duties.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

• Masters or a related advanced degree (or 7+ years’ experience in lieu) in business sustainability, sustainable land management, value chain analysis, agricultural sciences, or other graduate program with a sustainability focus.
• Strong analytical skills
• Demonstrated understanding of AFOLU sector
• Expertise with Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
• Strong project management skills
• Positive team-oriented, hands-on, adaptive and client-focused attitude.
• Strong written and oral English communication skills
• Ability to work independently and produce timely and high-quality results.
• Quick learner.
• Ability to travel (<20%)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Demonstrated experience in business pipeline development and management
• Familiarity with carbon calculation tools and GIS/spatial analysis i.e. GRAS, SERVIR, Global Forest Watch
• Field experience
• Experience in corporate environmental sustainability and/or corporate social responsibility.
