Job purpose:
Psychologist 2 implements Mental Health and Psycho-Social Support (MHPSS) activities as defined in collaboration with, and under the supervision of the MHPSS Delegate and Health Project Manager. S-he provides direct support to victims of unrest and other situations of violence. S/he supervises and monitors MHPSS interventions of the MHPSS team. S-he supports the MHPSS Delegate to coordinate the different activities in the field. S/he creates and maintains direct links with the beneficiaries of MHPSS program and relevant stakeholders.
Main responsibilities:
- Implements MHPSS activities directly through individual consultations or group support meetings.
- Organizes referral of beneficiaries and performs case follow-up.
- With his/her supervisor, sets up culturally and context-appropriate monitoring and evaluation tools, ensuring regular data collection.
- Provides clinical supervision of individual cases and group interventions to other psychologists in the team.
- Contributes to the coordination of MHPSS activities and interventions in the field.
- Provides support to adapt and translate relevant documents and clinical methodologies in the programs.
- Shares regular program updates with his/her supervisors.
- Ensures communication with other actors and community leaders regarding MHPSS needs.
- Provides MHPSS training to local institutions or community based organizations with the support of his/her supervisors.
- Participates in MHPSS assessments or studies along the implementation of the program.
- Internally, interacts with ICRC staff related to the specific program (Health team, Protection team, Physical Rehabilitation team, etc.).
- Externally, interacts with Governmental institutions, local Red Cross/Crescent branches, other local partners, specific communities
- Through close monitoring and self-care activities, ensures the level of emotional wellbeing of the MHPSS team, preventing burnout and low quality interventions.
Selection requirements and experience:
- Recognised university degree in Psychology
- Good command of English.
- Knowledge of Bahasa Malayu
- Previous experience delivering both group and individual MHPSS interventions
- Clinical and or psychosocial experience (Supervision and monitoring of clinical of intervention experience)
- Management experience, humanitarian experience an asset.
- Good understanding/knowledge of political, social and cultural environments of the assigned coverage
- Good computer skills (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point)
