Duration:         6 months, work day - Monday to Friday

Location:         Based in Bangkok, Thailand

The Secretariat, headquartered in Geneva, has five decentralized regional offices: one of which is the Asia Pacific, guided by the Secretariat strategies for implementation and areas of focus that builds on the vision of strategy 2020.

The Asia Pacific’s region is organized in two main hemispheres: a group of service-based departments and geographical configurations of (i) Country Cluster Support Teams and (ii) Country Office(s), as well as the Deputy Regional Director, each of them led by the Regional Director; and another hemisphere: six building blocks composed by (i) Partnerships and Resource Development, (ii) Policy, Strategy and Knowledge; (iii) Communication, (iv) Disaster and Crisis: Preparedness, Response, and Recovery, (v) Health and Water and Sanitation, (vi) Logistics, each of them led by the Deputy Regional Director. The Cash Transfer Programming Intern will be based in the Country Cluster Support office located in Bangkok. Under the lead of the Asia Pacific Regional Cash Preparedness Coordinator, he/she will support the Asia Pacific Regional office (APRO) in the implementation of the Regional Cash Roadmap for Asia Pacific recently developed at the Cash Strategic Workshop that took place this year in Kuala Lumpur.

Job Purpose:

Under the leadership of the Regional Cash Preparedness Coordinator, the CTP Intern will support the different strategic processes led by the Regional Director in the Asia Pacific Region.

Job duties and responsibilities

• The intern will support (7) focus National Societies in cash preparedness develop their communication materials, case studies for advocacy & awareness raising on cash transfer programming.
• Support the production of a quarterly newsletter on cash transfer programming in Asia Pacific
• Regularly update the cash transfer section of the RRI Library website.
• Support the set up and management of a community of practice (made up of staff and volunteers in the Red Cross movement in the Asia Pacific Region) on cash transfer programming starting with a mapping of the human resources in the region.
• Contribute to the knowledge management on CTP in Asia Pacific creating an e-mail list of relevant persons, sharing relevant documents/ information.
• Develop an Asia Pacific risk register for Cash Transfer Programming
• Mapping of Cash transfer programming experiences and capacities in the Region
• Support the organisation of training workshops, peer-to-peer exchange visits, field assessments as required
• Participate in coordination meetings, record meeting minutes as required

Qualifications, experience and skills required:

• Currently pursuing an international cooperation, development and/or humanitarian assistance or related university degree
• This intern is open to local and international applicants who are currently-enrolled in a university or equivalent level or have graduated recently (normally within 1 year from the date of hiring) in an area that is compatible with the above description
• Self-supporting in computer applications and design of websites
• High level of organization
• Results-orientation
• Excellent spoken and written English is a must
• Good command of any Asian Language would be useful (but not essential)
