Background
The Mahidol Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit (MORU) is collaboration between Mahidol University (Thailand), Oxford University (UK) and the UK’s Wellcome Trust. MORU’s main office and laboratories are located within the Faculty of Tropical Medicine at Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand, with study sites and collaborations across Thailand, Asia and Africa.
The post holder will have the opportunity to learn how to conduct social science research and to work with an interdisciplinary team.
Tasks
- Provide coordination and assist in social science research
- Translate research documents from English to Thai, and from Thai to English as necessary
- Conduct interviews, collect qualitative and quantitative data related to studies in the department. Projects are related to research ethics such as vulnerabilities in research and controlled human malaria infection studies.
- Transcribe audio record in English or Thai (verbatim)
- Data entry
- Other tasks as assigned by supervisor
Essential Criteria
- Thai nationality
- A university degree in social science (sociology, anthropology, development studies or public health) with qualitative research experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Thai
- Enthusiastic, flexible, dedicated and organized
- Experience in translation, simultaneous translation and writing reports
- Willing to travel from time to time
