The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of war and internal violence and to provide them with assistance. The ICRC regional delegation in Bangkok provides assistance to victims of violence and works with authorities in order to improve the conditions in detention facilities. It also endeavours to promote and to strengthen humanitarian law and universal humanitarian principles.

We are looking for a

Driver, based in Pattani

As a team member of Logistics Department, our main task is to provide the humanitarian logistics support to fulfil the ICRC operations in Thailand

Your main responsibilities

• Drives different types of light ICRC vehicles by strictly following internal security and national traffic rules
• Transports people and/or material
• Checks equipment on attributed cars, ensures proper fuelling and cleaning
• Moves independently in difficult security environments
• When in the field, gathers information needed for ICRC activities and security
• Carries out routine driving duties and requested errands as instructed and under supervision of the Logistics Responsible
• Completes maintenance routines and can be involved in the more simpler diagnostics and running repairs
• Manages the transportation with ICRC vehicle fleet or outsourced transport in accordance with operational needs and in compliance with the required standards as determined by GVA HQ
• Assists in various logistics functions (purchasing, warehousing, import/export, and fleet activities)

Your education and experience

• Good driving skills with working experience as a professional driver
• A valid Thai driver’s license for at least 5 years with clean records is essential

• Excellent knowledge of the geographically assigned environment especially in Deep South (Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat and Song khla)

• Flexible, able to work after hours, weekends and public holidays, at short notice, if required
• An ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Good spoken and written skills in Thai and Yawi
• Basic English communication skills
• Basic mechanical skills
• Strong sense of responsibility and adaptability
