Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development (APWLD) is currently inviting women from Asia Pacific countries with relevant experience and skills to apply for the position of Information and Communications Associate. The successful applicant will work with our communications team, and take a lead in developing digital content, manage our social media communications and work closely on campaigns and advocacy with our dynamic membership to advance women’s human rights and development justice.

APWLD is a regional network of women’s organisations and activists in Asia Pacific, committed to women’s rights and feminist movements. APWLD’s members are drawn from 27 countries and the secretariat is based in Chiang Mai, Thailand with a satellite office based in Penang, Malaysia. Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated commitment to the promotion and understanding of women’s human rights in Asia Pacific;
  2. A degree in communication studies, journalism or media studies;
  3. Minimum of two to three years of work experience using innovative and powerful communication strategies to advance women’s human rights;
  4. Up-to-date knowledge of digital communication tools and technologies including social media;
  5. Proven writing, video and/or podcast production skills (experience in using Wordpress and creating digital media content is desirable);
  6. Skills and knowledge of graphic design and video, audio and photo editing software;
  7. Ability to produce regular newsletters using Mailchimp;
  8. Basic knowledge of analysing social media and communications impact;
  9. Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse, membership driven network;
  10. Must be able to work to strict deadlines and manage multiple tasks in a busy communications team;
  11. Excellent command of English language, both oral and written, knowledge of a regional language will be desirable;
  12. Good interpersonal skills, with ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and develop strong professional relationships with members and other stakeholders;
  13. Must be able to travel overseas as required.

Desirable

  1. Experience in social sector or journalism would be an advantage.
  2. Experience of working on social media or online movements.
  3. Experience in implementing communications strategies at organisational level.

Remuneration

Salary range commences at THB 34,500 (equivalent of USD 1,000) per month. Other benefits include contributions to employment pension fund; 13th month salary; housing allowance and relocation allowances for staff required to relocate to Chiang Mai or Penang.

A probationary period of four months applies.

This is a full time position with two-year contract (renewable).
