Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
The project “Supporting National Level Migration Health Coordination Mechanisms in Asia”, funded by the IOM Development Fund, supports the Ministry of Public Health in Thailand to establish multi-sectoral migrant health coordination mechanisms at the national level; conduct national and regional situational analyses on migrant health; and facilitate the development of national level action plans to respond to new global level guidance on principles and priorities for addressing migrant health.
Efforts to strengthen migration health coordination at the national level includes establishing multi-sectoral forums that bring together a wide range of key governmental actors, as well as UN agencies, civil society and development partners, in order to enhance coordination and identify strategic avenues for closer cooperation that can be maintained into the future.
