The Role

 

The Gender Programme Officer will lead the implementation of the ongoing “Women Networks Increasing Accountability of Religious and Governmental Institutions to Reduce Violence Against Women in the Deep South” project supported by the European Union until December 2020.  The overall objective of the job is to strengthen advocacy capacity and actions of the women networks in the Deep South and manage the project accountability system. The Gender Programme Officer will work closely with the project partners, academics, Islamic leaders, multidisciplinary team, provincial and national policy makers to drive the improvement of women counselling in the provincial Islamic offices, referral system to the state services and facilitate the discussion of gender norms that support the intensity of domestic violence.

 

What we are looking for

 

  • Ability to work in Deep South of Thailand 
  • At least 3 years of experience in gender-direct or gender mainstreaming projects
  • Strong knowledge of gender equality and women transformative leadership. Good knowledge of gender in Islamic and deep south contexts
  • Strong institutional donor project management experience of no less than 3 years in a medium size project. Strong at budget monitoring and outputs tracking. Trained in or strong at knowledge of programme/project quality standards, monitoring and evaluation
  • Good facilitation skills (workshops, dialogues). Good judgement and analytical skills to support advocacy work of the women networks with the duty bearers
  • Ability to plan knowledge management
  • Agile, enabling and comfortable with complexities and uncertainty
  • Strong English and Thai oral presentation and written communications
  • High in team spirit, self-motivated and responsibility
  • Wide network with women’s rights organizations and networking skills
