Growing Together Project Officer Vacancy
Position: Growing Together Project officer (1 open position: only for Thai citizen)

Handicap International (HI) which run its programs under the operating name Humanity & Inclusion seeks a “Growing Together Project Officer” for its Thailand Program based in Mae Hong Son, with frequent travel to Ban Mai Nai Soi and Ban Mae Su Rin camp in Mae Hong Son province and occasionally to Mae Sot, Yangon and Bangkok.

PROJECT HISTORY
In Thailand, Handicap International, now operating under the name of Humanity & Inclusion (HI) started working in 1984 and first focused its actions on the delivery of mobility and assistive devices to Burmese landmine/ERW victims as a response to the influx from Myanmar. HI currently implements activities for Burmese refugees along the Thailand/Myanmar border under three thematic areas: Rehabilitation and Disability and Social Inclusion (DSI) including inclusive early child development (Growing Together), and Mine Risk Education (MRE). As from 2016, Thailand projects are framed in the Myanmar and Thailand Regional program.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
HI implements 4 projects in Thailand along the Thai-Burma border:
a) Landmine/ERW Risk Education (MRE) in 9 camps,
b) Disability and Social Inclusion in 3 camps in Tak province and 2 camps in Mae Hong Son province
(Sob Moei / SM District),
c) Inclusive early child development (Growing Together) in 3 camps in Tak province and 4 camps in Mae Hong Son province,
d) Rehabilitation project in 3 camps in Tak province and 2 camps in Mae Hong Son province

Growing Together Project (GT) focusing on enabling children with disabilities or chronic illnesses, children at risk of developmental delays and psychological distress (0-12 years old), to develop their full potential on an equal basis with other children and acquire fundamental educational and social skills through games, sport, cultural arts, early years’ education and complementary learning, as well as support to their family members or parents / caregivers.
JOB DESCRIPTION: GROWING TOGETHER PROJECT OFFICER
GENERAL MISSION:
Implementing and managing the Growing Together project activities at the field level under the supervision of GT project manager (GT PM) and to enhance capacity of Growing Together Camp Based Staff (GT CBS) to ensure the quality of the project activities and services, and promote inclusion and equal participation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Plan, monitor, implement the GT project activities and ensure quality of services provision.
Activities:
• Contribute towards the development of Thailand site operational plan of action toward short, mid and strategy for the sector;
• Develop monthly work plans based on project planning and report achievements during weekly team meetings;

2. Empower, build capacity and coach HI camp based staff (CBS), community staff and camp staff from other agencies on Growing Together project activities.

3. Ensure communication, networking and coordination at field level for GT activities.

QUAILIFICATION REQUIREMENT: Thai citizen,
Education: University degree in the field of education, social sciences, social development, or related field. Degree on special educatiin, physiotherapy, occupational therapy or speech and language therapy is advantages.
Experiences: Minimum of 2 years practical experience in a similar position, as well as, working with refugees in the Thai-Burma border, specially parents and vulnerable children.
Experience in conducting trainings (material development, training facilitation) and on-the-job capacity building of community volunteers.
Technical Skills & Cross Cutting Skills: Minimum 2-year experience in project implementation.
Experience in working with partners, civil society organizations, local authorities. Experience in providing coaching for capacity building. Experience in one of the domains of intervention of the program: health, rehabilitation, livelihood or local inclusive development are advantages. Experience in disability sector, working with parents, vulnerable groups are strongly recommended.
Language skills: Good in Burmese or Karen, and English is a must. Good in Thai is an advantage.
Behavioral Skills: Active listening. Sense of negotiation. Self-initiative. Intellectual flexibility.
Adaptation skills. Communication skills. Ability to create team spirit and to support team building. Autonomy in work. Experience in accompanying a team and finding practical solutions.
JOB CONDITIONS:
Local work contract, fixed duration contract (potential to be extended)
Remuneration: Starting from 25,138Baht depending on the experience of the candidate.
