Background

SEED was founded by UNEP, UNDP, and IUCN at the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg as a global partnership for action on sustainable development and the green economy.

We believe that great opportunities exist when individuals are given the support to create their own change. SEED works directly with ‘start-up’ enterprises who share similar ideas towards sustainable development. We provide them with supports to optimise their capability to achieve their goals through capacity building support, networking and profiling at the national and international level.

At the same time, we offer programmes to build an ecosystem of supporters and advocators necessary to the success of growing enterprises. Our facilitation of multi-stakeholder engagement through SEED programmes generates policy, financing and collaboration instruments that multiply the social, environmental and economic impacts of entrepreneurship.

SEED is hosted by adelphi research, a leading independent think tank and public policy consultancy on climate, environment and development. adelphi’s mission is to improve global governance through research, dialogue and consultation. Since 2001 adelphi has successfully completed over 800 projects worldwide. Our work covers the key areas of Climate, Energy, Resources, Green Economy, Sustainable Business, Green Finance, Peace and Security, International Cooperation and Urban Transformation.

SEED is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Research Analyst.

The successful candidate will be working closely with the Head of Asia and the SEED Thailand Coordinator on a number of cross-cutting themes related to eco-inclusive enterprises capacity building, climate finance, clean energy, green economy and sustainable development.

Position responsibilities

Research and Analysis

• Conduct literature reviews on an assigned topic and synthesising such findings in writing
• Policy research and analysis including draft reports and presentations, on assigned topics related to key topics mentioned above
• Compile, translate and analyse key data in support to the researches and reports under SEED and relevant projects as required
• Draft narrative report of relevant projects under SEED and relevant projects

Conceptualise Business Support Toolkit and Impact Assessment

• Conceptualise and design toolkits on assigned topics around business/enterprise development, impact, green financing, and sustainable development
• Development and visualise of the toolkits materials
• Conduct research and data gathering on impact assessment and the SEED impact simplifier
• Produce knowledge products and other related duties when required

Project Development and Support

• Identify, update and map of key stakeholders and potential donors
• Support drafting of project proposals
• Assist with outreach and logistical preparation for events

Qualifications and characteristics

• Academic background: A degree in the areas of international development, natural resource management and social sciences. Other academic backgrounds with interest climate, green economy and sustainable development are welcomed.
• Languages: English proficiency especially report writing skills are required. Knowledge in Thai language is preferable.
• Knowledge of climate change issues, sustainable development, and/or green economics is desirable.
• Experience interacting with a variety of stakeholders, including government officials, is an asset.
• Possess strong communication and presentation skills
• Possess analytical skills and sound judgement, Innovative, energetic and commitment to task assigned
