Programme Manager
The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) is the oldest political foundation in Germany. The work of FES focuses on the core values of social democracy – freedom, justice and solidarity. With our network of offices in more than 100 countries, we promote the establishment and consolidation of democracy and social justice and are pioneers for free trade unions and a strong civil society. We organize events and publications around these goals, build transnational networks and progressive coalitions between individuals and organizations. In Thailand and the region, FES strives to understand the trends of globalization, digitalization, climate change, labour mobility and regional integration. We also facilitate inclusive dialogue and participation in the fields of civic education, gender justice and peaceful transformation.
We are currently seeking a full-time Programme Manager to join our dynamic team of seven at the Bangkok office.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Under the overall supervision of the Resident Director, you will:
- Coordinate FES activities in political-economic topics, which includes project conceptualization, planning and organization of activities/events, budget management, and evaluation and reporting; the fields of work may be adapted
- Oversee and facilitate working groups and seminars
- Monitor constantly and analyze Thailand’s political, social and economic situation relevant to our programs and other fields and write regular reports/country briefing
- Build and maintain good collaborative relationships with cross-sector partners
- Develop project and partnership proposals
- Attend and actively participate in internal team and regional meetings
- Oversee the production of publications related to core activities
- Design terms of reference for consultants and supervise their writing, research papers and publications
Personal qualification and skills
- Master’s Degree in Social Sciences, Political Science, Political Economy, Economics or related field
- A minimum of three years’ work experience in a relevant field
- Fluent in both Thai and English; German language skills are an asset
- Very good communication skills, speaking and writing
- Sound understanding of Thailand’s political, social and economic situation and developments
- Excellent analytical skills in questions of governance and political economy
- Flexible and adaptable to partners and topics
- Highly organized and possessing acute attention to detail
- Ready to work on weekends and in the evening during seminars, willing to travel in the country and abroad
- Willing to help with other programs and projects if needed
- Good Microsoft Office skills, experience and familiarity with managing social media pages (Facebook) and blogs; familiarity with O365 is an additional asset
