WORK CONTEXT / BACKGROUND:

        World Vision Foundation of Thailand (WVFT) is a non-profit, Christian organisation, dedicated to transformational development of children, families and communities.  It was founded in 1974, and is currently supporting some 65,000 children, families and community development in 44 provinces in Thailand. WVFT has more than 500 staff of diverse faith.

          Advocacy as part of World Vision’s ministry is to bring about changes in unjust policies and practices, attitudes and behaviour that negatively impact on children and their community. Principle activities will include research, analysis, and identification of advocacy/policy issues to be addressed, influencing and networking, capacity building and integration with programs, liaising with other programs, avenues of public engagement, communications, marketing and Christian Commitments.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

           This position specializes in local level advocacy strategic development and implementation, serving as part of the Field Operations and Resource Development (FORD) in implementing Advocacy policies and programmes as well as supporting the National Advocacy Coordinator, Operations Managers and Technical Teams in ensuring local level advocacy is integrated into Area Programmes and good practices are leveraged.

ROLE DIMENSION / DESCRIPTION

Assist to National Advocacy Coordinator to conduct research, collect and analyze, on existing government policies on issues that has implications with advocacy and produce policy briefs, fact sheets, or other documents related to CWB and CVA that will help in the design of advocacy strategy, taking into consideration the Thailand context.

• Work closely with Advocacy lead and oversee the development and implementation of by ensuring the quality and effectiveness of WVFT Citizen Voice and Engagement (CVE) according to standards and alignment with LEAP (Learning, Evaluation, Accountability, and Planning), Child Well Being (CWB), and partnership standards for advocacy.
• Formulation, monitoring and reporting on Partnership Strategic Measures or similar annual and semi-annual reporting system the conduct of CVA and advocacy-charged activities while working closely with Technical/Operations teams, Advocacy Steering Committee, Communications, and other stakeholders while ensuring that they are aligned with Annual Business Plan and Country Strategy for advocacy.
• Serve as local level advocacy technical staff to guide field staff for engagement with local policy makers, partners and working groups to enhance World Vision’s credibility and influence change of policy and practice.
• Public engagement, dissemination of public policy developments, and implementation of campaign design that promotes integration of advocacy across various ministry sectors such as education, health, child protection, and migration/anti-trafficking.
• Support to National Advocacy Coordinator to strategically establish partnerships with other local organizations involved in advocating similar issues.
• Build capacity among National and Area Programme staff to integrate advocacy into programmatic work and technical projects
• Ensure timely submission of reports and share relevant data needed by Advocacy lead and other internal stakeholders within the partnership
• Observe organisational core values and engage in accordance with Christian values
• Take other tasks that have implication with advocacy deliverables as assigned within the organization.
