Join Our Team: Director of Operations and Finance
Are you ready to take on an important role in a dynamic and growing organization dedicated to the principles of human rights, equality, and Justice? Manushya Foundation is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to serve as our Director of Operations and Finance. This key leadership position will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and effective functioning of our foundation as we continue to expand and evolve.
Role Overview
The Director of Operations and Finance will directly report to the Founder & Executive Director of Manushya and will serve as the senior anchor person at the office in Bangkok. This role entails comprehensive oversight of administrative, procurement, financial, and human resources aspects of Manushya Foundation. The ideal candidate will embody and reinforce the core feminist values of Manushya Foundation while nurturing a working culture of care, excellence and collaboration.
The Director of Operations and Finance will manage the relationships with external actors responsible for aspects of our financial and human resources operations such as accountants, auditors, legal counsel, HR services and any other such relationships that may be necessary in the future to ensure compliance with local laws, US regulations, and Manushya policies. An additional component of the role is overseeing the organization and management of workshops and field missions, including sourcing venues and arranging travel and logistics for Manushya events and meetings.
We are looking for a Thai National or someone willing to reside and work in Thailand. The employment contract will be under Thai law.

- Implement effective strategies for recruiting, onboarding, and retaining top talent, and maintain complete and confidential personnel files.
- Champion the development of a robust organizational culture rooted in care,
- collaboration, open communication, accountability, transparency, and high performance, aiming to achieve Manushya’s goals.
- Serve as a dedicated resource for conflict resolution, utilizing a compassionate and proactive approach to address issues promptly and effectively.
- Provide personalized one-on-one sessions to employees, nurturing their professional growth and well-being within the organization, and respect the principality of privacy and confidentiality.
- Ensure the administration of accurate and timely compensation and benefits packages and monitor staff annual and sick leave accrual.
- Finances
- Supervise Manushya's financial and accounting functions and systems, encompassing bookkeeping, payroll, vendor management, and coordination with external accounting providers.
- Review and update Manushya's manuals, policies, and accounting practices in accordance with changes in local regulations and US regulations and develop checklists to guide staff in the timely and accurate completion of key operational, procurement, and financial activities.
- Establish internal controls to uphold the highest ethical standards in the administration of donor resources.
- Ensure project compliance with local laws, US regulations, and Manushya policies through periodic spot checks.
- Monitor the financial health of the organization to maintain adequate reserves and solvency.
- Conduct financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and analysis/forecasts to provide meaningful information to the Founder & Executive Director.
- Ensure that the organization is audited and tax ready.
- Oversee the procurement and logistics function of Manushya.
- Organization Liaison
- Represent Manushya with local counsel, bank officials, auditors, and government agencies regarding legal, regulatory, and tax matters to ensure proper management and risk mitigation for all financial and human resources functions.
- Legal Management
- Develop and manage robust contracting processes to ensure value for money, accurate administration and reporting, and compliance with statutory/regulatory requirements.
- Negotiate and review contractual terms and conditions ranging from procurement of services to partner and funders’ agreements and engage outside counsel when necessary.
- Serve as primary liaison on legal matters with the Executive Director.
- General Administration and IT
- Act as Manushya’s Officer in Charge in Bangkok, particularly when the Executive Director is traveling, supporting staff and ensuring effective division and clarity of tasks to ensure that deliverables such as workshops are executed effectively.
- Effectively oversee and manage the Bangkok office and the organization’s infrastructural requirements, including appropriate information technology.
- Produce products and tools to assist the team in managing the performance of projects (including MEL)
- Ensure the effective and efficient administration of Manushya, including maintaining filing and record-keeping, and ensuring incoming queries and other correspondence are handled appropriately.
- Manage and oversee the organization of workshops and field missions, including venue sourcing, travel and logistics for Manushya events and meetings.
Person Specifications
Essential
Experience
- At least 5-7 years of experience leading financial, administrative, and/or procurement of donor-funded projects.
- Direct experience in implementing business processes and systems, at the right time and at the right scale in the context of the organization’s circumstances and long-term strategy.
- Familiar with general accounting principles, grant administration, procurement processes, and human resources practices.
- Demonstrated experience in financial planning and budget oversight.
- Demonstrated experience in contract negotiation, management and administration;
- Experience hiring, coaching and supervising staff.

Qualifications
- Studies: Master's or Bachelor’s degree in any of the relevant fields: Business Administration, Human Resources and Finance related fields;
- Willing and able to travel domestically and occasionally internationally, should this be necessary and possible;
- Ability to handle sensitive confidential information;
- Good coordination, service mind, and ability to manage simultaneous priorities under deadlines.
Desirable
- Thai National with experience in Thai-English document translation/positions and accounting related to NGOs, as well as the process of visas and work permits in Thailand.
- Experience in operation and human resources management.
- Experience in financial management of an NGO operating in Thailand, under Thai law.
- Experience working with local communities.
Working relationships
You will report to the Founder & Executive Director of Manushya Foundation.
Working Hours + Benefits
- This is a full-time position (Monday to Friday, with occasional weekends and evenings depending on field trips and workshops which are compensated as additional annual leave).
