Job Title: Impact and Advocacy Specialist
Main role: To work within the Communications & Advocacy department and liaise closely with the Research team to identify, support the development of, and communicate the economic, social and cultural impact arising from our research findings
Key areas of focus:
- To maintain and build upon Steps’ research and evidence base to design data-driven communications for internal and external audiences.
- Measurement and analysis of Steps’ impact for grants, funding, and research
- Stakeholder management and engagement
- Maintaining and building knowledge across contemporary research and analysis
- Planning and executing events that support impact activities and dissemination of research
- To build out a communications calendar and support touchpoint production.
Key Responsibilities:
Impact
- Prepare comprehensive impact assessment reports, summaries, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, including funders, partners, and decision-makers
- Collect, analyse, and interpret data to measure and communicate Steps’ social impact on a monthly, annual, and project basis
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our social impact measurement approaches
- Develop data visualisation solutions, content creation, and visual storytelling, to communicate key findings of data analysis and impact
- To assist in creating compelling calls to action for employers and organisations to become more inclusive and offer effective accommodations for people who identify as neurodivergent or people with disabilities.
- Work with the Research team to create events focused on disseminating knowledge and information on inclusive practice
- Participate in impact focused activities, workshops, and events for Steps’ donors, partners, and clients in various forms including presenting, facilitating, and collecting data
- Attend relevant events linked to social impact, monitoring and evaluation, fundraising and other related topics
- Liaise with colleagues from teams across the organisation to extract, analyse, and share our own data, and ensure that this informs our policy influencing, and campaigning work.
- Play an active role in ensuring we uphold our commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in everything we do
Fundraising/Partnerships
- Conduct ongoing exploration of new funding opportunities and manage the internal mapping database
- Conduct ongoing exploration of key strategic partners (local and regional) and manage the stakeholder database
- Prepare information and data for funding applications, impact reports, and other reporting requirements
- Work alongside the Programme Manager to draft and submit applications
- Monitor the development of social enterprise and philanthropic landscape in the region, including related laws and regulations, and report this development, together with suggestions on actions for Steps
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field such as social work, psychology, public policy, sociology, or a related field.
- Degrees or certifications related to impact assessment are a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment characteristic of a social enterprise.
- English at professional working proficiency level.
- Able to use MS Word, Excel, Google Products, and basic office equipment.
