Major Functions:

The Program Manager will be responsible for overall program management to achieve the program’s goals and targets, and ensure all activities comply with project agreements, WWF’s contractual obligations, and donor requirements. The Program Manager will take full responsibility for the technical, financial, and administrative aspects of the project.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the overall implementation of the wetland biodiversity conservation and flood forest restoration program, ensuring alignment with program strategic objectives.
  • Supervise the development and execution of project plans, ensuring timely delivery of key milestones and outcomes.
  • Develop and implement restoration plans for degraded forest areas. Ensure the re-establishment of native species and ecosystems.
  • Support the protection and sustainable management of designated wetlands-protected areas and internationally recognized RAMSAR wetland sites. Ensure compliance with relevant environmental regulations and guidelines.
  • Keep the Senior Program Manager informed of any programmatic challenges, delays, or difficulties in achieving financial burn rate.
  • Collaborate with 30 by 30 Program Managers to identify and designate Other Effective area-based Conservation Measures (OECMs) to enhance biodiversity conservation outside traditional protected areas.
  • Engage with local communities to manage natural resources sustainably. Facilitate participatory planning processes and capacity-building initiatives.
  • Build and maintain effective partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, local communities, and international bodies at the project site level.
  • Represent the program in relevant forums and networks, advocating for conservation priorities.
  • Utilize adaptive management techniques to continuously assess and refine conservation strategies based on monitoring data and evolving conditions.
  • Work with WWF M&E to develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track program impact and progress.
  • Regularly monitor and report on progress, ensuring adherence to workplan and adjusting as necessary.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring financial sustainability and accountability.
  • Track expenditures, ensure cost-effectiveness, and prepare financial reports to meet donor requirements and organizational standards.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on program activities, outcomes, and lessons learned for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the Program Coordinator in conducting training sessions and workshops to build the capacity of local stakeholders as required.
  • Work closely with the ESSF Manager in identifying potential risks to the program and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Support other work as required.

 

Required Qualifications:                                                                                                                                          

  • Bachelor's degree in conservation biology, forest or wetlands management or ecology, environmental science, or a related field.
  • 5 years of research and/or project management of complex forest or watershed conservation projects involving multi-stakeholders; connectivity conservation experience highly desirable.
  • Understanding of flooded forest ecosystem, wetland characteristics, threats, socio-economic contexts, and conservation opportunities in Thailand, if possible including familiarity with wetland  policy and management approaches used by the Royal Forest Department and Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation. Fishery Department, Water Resource Department.
  • Strong understanding of flooded forest and wetland conservation processes that support government agency and community participation and empowerment.
  • Fluency in Thai and competence in English.
