The Burma Children Medical Fund (BCMF) (burmachildren.com; facebook.com/burmachildren) is a nonprofit organisation that was established in 2006 to facilitate the treatment of surgeries and other complex conditions for vulnerable people from Burma in Thai hospitals. Since then, BCMF has expanded to building the capacity and improving access to medical care amongst vulnerable communities in Burma and in Thailand, through an increasing number of health-related outreach projects.
Job Overview/Summary
The Reproductive Health & Rights (RHR) Training Coordinator manages the Reproductive Health & Rights (RHR) Project, under BCMF’s Outreach Services Program, in addition to running Child Protection & Child Rights workshops for staff. He/she is responsible for developing, overseeing and delivering workshops, on reproductive health and rights, as well as child protection and child rights. Moreover, he/she is to promote the rights of children and women, in accordance with the organisation’s standards and values.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and regularly update the training packages which includes materials and manuals
- Ensure effective project plans and budget are in place
- Organise, manage and conduct workshops specifically on reproductive health and rights in Thailand and Burma as well as with new local interns and staff
- Organise, manage and conduct follow-up sessions after each workshop as part of monitoring and evaluation
- Promote workshops to new and existing partners/beneficiaries
- Map project locations and identify potential beneficiaries
- Purchase and prepare materials needed for the workshops
- Ensure inventory of materials for the Reproductive Health and Rights Project are up to date
- Write external activity reports for donors and/or internal reports for the organisation pertaining to the child protection and child rights project as well as the reproductive health and rights project
Secondary responsibilities:
- Assist the Outreach Services Manager with conducting timely follow-up sessions with Eye Screening Project and Wheelchair Project beneficiaries
- Assist the Digital Communications & Outreach Assistant with drafting Facebook posts after outreach project missions
- Assist with entering data into the outreach projects database as needed
- Assist the Outreach Services Manager with updating the inventory for other outreach projects as needed
- Assist the Outreach Services Manager with writing external activity reports for donors and/or internal reports for the organisation pertaining to other projects under the Outreach Services Program
- Run yearly workshops on Child Protection and Child Rights for all staff
- Assist with reporting possible child protection cases to responsible partners as needed
- Ensure inventory of materials for running Child Protection & Child Rights workshops with staff are up to date
General responsibilities
- Conduct and document patient interviews as needed.
- Translate interviews for international volunteers, interns, and staff
- Assist with outreach projects in both Thailand and Burma as needed

Position requirements
- Fluent in Karen and Burmese. Working knowledge of English. Knowledge of Thai and other ethnic languages is highly desirable
- Background in medical or public health
- Demonstrated knowledge of reproductive health and right, child rights and right, and gender equity and inclusion
- Demonstrated leadership, facilitation, and team working skills and ability to establish harmonious working relations in an international and multicultural environment
- Willingness to travel to project areas to run workshops on a frequent basis
- Experience in implementing reproductive health projects and workshops are required, with experience working with vulnerable communities in Thailand and Burma highly preferred
- Experience in project design, delivery, coordination, planning, networking, facilitation and material development is required
- Ability to work independently, with minimum day-to-day supervision
Conditions
- Starting date: As soon as possible
- Ability to work in Thailand legally
- Remuneration: 10,000 – 13,000 THB based on experience
- Fixed-term full-time contract based in Mae Sot, Thailand
- Standard office environment with regular field work to perform the above outlined responsibilities
- May require occasional weekends and/or evening work
