Since 1978, the American Refugee Committee (ARC) has provided life-saving primary health services for refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and host communities in emergency and post-conflict settings around the world. Since 1995, ARC has expanded its portfolio to include countries transitioning to longer-term development. From program inception, ARC strives to build host country capacity to provide a broad range of comprehensive health care services by supporting Ministries of Health, service providers, and local communities. ARC implements innovative and inclusive solutions to ensure that all beneficiaries have ready and equal access to health care.
ARC has been working in Thailand for over 30 years, with current projects including primary health care, water and sanitation, gender-based violence prevention and response, and innovative economic opportunities. In the health sector, ARC provides an essential package of primary, reproductive, maternal, and child healthcare services in several refugee camps along the border with Myanmar, providing supplies, training, and supervision of refugee staff, along with community-based education.

The Pharmacy Assistant is under the supervision of the Pharmacy In-Charge to maintain the central pharmacy in Mae Sot and to ensure regular delivery of good quality pharmaceuticals, disposables and medical equipment to the camp pharmacies.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities % of time
Assist Pharmacy In-Charge in preparing quarterly orders based on monthly consumption of drugs
• Receive delivery and check that quantity and quality of goods corresponds to the order
• Assist in registering all pharmaceuticals, disposables and medical equipment which are coming in or out of the central pharmacy on excel file and hard copy
• Ensure medical products are stored appropriately and securely to ensure freshness and potency
• Together with Pharmacy In-Charge conduct inventory of central pharmacy on monthly basis
• Ensure that there are no drugs out of stock or after the expiry date
• Follow up on monthly drug consumption in three camps
• Prepare correctly orders to camps on monthly basis or according to needs
• Ensure medicines reach camps on time in good condition
• Supervise that pharmaceuticals, disposables and medical equipment are checked upon reaching camp pharmacy, when needed or required by supervisor
• Assist in preparing extra drug order of pharmaceuticals, disposables and medical equipment according to the needs
• Assist in preparing vaccine order with monthly consumption and send to MoPH in Mae Sot.
• Assist in delivering laboratory samples from camps to Maesot Hospital and collect the results.
• Assist in recording pharmacy storage temperature and vaccines fridge temperature.
• Participate in relevant internal meetings 80%
Miscellaneous

• Adhere to prevention of sexual abuse and exploitation code of conduct, sexual misconduct policy, and consensual relationships policy.
• Other tasks as assigned by the Pharmacy In-Charge 20%
Technical Skills & Knowledge Required (List the important technical and professional skills and knowledge required to do the job well. Previous work experience in a refugee setting or in developing country is a plus.)

Working Environment: The position will be based in Mae Sod, a town in Tak Province in Thailand, with travel to the Mae La, Nu Po and Umpiem temporary shelters.
