Position title: Major Donor Manager (Thai Nationality only)
Directly reports to: Country Director, WWF Thaiand
Location: Bangkok, WWF Thailand
Major Function
The Major Donor Manager develops, promotes, implements and manages WWF- Thailand Major Donors Program, including the development of comprehensive plans for identifying, soliciting and securing major gifts from high net worth individuals. The incumbent will strategize with the key volunteer leadership (in case WWF Thailand is granted a local foundation status), Country Director, and Marketing/Fundraising Manager on how to build new and maintain old relationships. The incumbent will support the management of WWF Thailand in raising major gifts for WWF-Thailand and manage and steward all relationships with current and prospective major gift donors.
Major Responsibilities
This TOR covers the main tasks and conveys the spirit of the sort of tasks that are anticipated proactively from staff. Other tasks may be assigned as necessary according to organizational needs.
Working Relationships
a) Work Performed
The position develops and implements strategies to increase funds raised from major gifts and maintains and develops relationships with existing and new key supporters to increase the level of support to WWF-Thailand. In consultation with Country Director, Senior Management Team, the position develops promotional materials for major gift solicitation. The position identifies, researches and evaluates major gifts prospects, prepares relevant funding proposals for new and existing supporters and manages the contact process, including timely follow-up. The position works closely with the key volunteer leaders (Chair of the Board of Directors, Chair and members of the Board’s Development Committee…), and coordinates major donor events when required.
b) Challenges/Problem Solving
The position plans, implements and delivers regular plan to generate and grow strong, long-term sustainable income from major donors.
Establishing and maintaining new relationships is a key component of the position. Externally the position holder communicates with a range of major donors, requiring consistently high levels of personal attention, presentation and interaction. In collaboration with Conservation Manager, Marketing/Fundraising Department and other relevant staff the position holder develops proposals and products for prospective donors. The incumbent will develop annual financial goals and plans with input from Country Director, Senior Management Team, and the Marketing Director (The Team).
c) Decision Making
The position works with a high level of autonomy on a day-to-day basis within the agreed work plan. Working with The Team, the position holder establishes and agrees a strategic relationship building plan for existing and potential key supporters, including organising meetings or visits with supporters where required. Day-to-day relationship management with existing and new major donors is the responsibility of the position. The position holder consults with Country Director on areas of uncertainty or ambiguity in relation to potential relationships.
d) Communication
Teamwork is the preferred way of working within WWF and this necessitates regular communications with The Team and other staff. Internally the position holder communicates at least weekly with Country Director and Senior Management Team. Monthly communication is undertaken with Senior Management Team to share information and seek supports.
Externally the position holder communicates regularly with existing major donors to facilitate growth and maintain positive, beneficial relationships. The position holder works very closely with members of the Board of Trustees, Country Director, and the Manager of Marketing/Fundraising to ensure their good relationship with the donors continue.
The position is responsible for proactively seeking new opportunities, establishing contacts and developing new relationships. Appropriate communication styles and protocols are required to ensure positive, beneficial outcomes, including proposal formulation and formal presentations
